The correction pass

Swirl marks are thousands of fine scratches in the clearcoat. They scatter light, so gloss drops. Machine correction levels them — and a 60° gloss meter reads the finish climb back. Scroll the panel through a pass.

How a booking runs

Four stages, and a number at each end

  1. 01

    Assess & log

Paint-depth gauge and a gloss reading on every panel, written down before a pad touches the car.

  2. 02

    Decontaminate

A safe wash, then chemical and mechanical decon to pull bonded fallout off the clearcoat.

  3. 03

    Correct

Machine stages that level the marring — one for enhancement, two where the defects run deep.

  4. 04

    Coat & measure

A ceramic laid over glass-flat paint, then a final gloss reading against the first.
